History

History of JV “Sperco Ukraine” is a history of a continuous advance toward the success. Owing to its consistent strategy, it has taken the company a little more than 10 years to become one of the TOP 10 medicinal product manufacturers in Ukraine.

Ukrainian-Spanish joint venture “Sperco Ukraine” was founded in 1995 during the “investment boom” when western entrepreneurs willingly invested into the rapidly developing economy of Ukraine. Spanish Investment Company was “Ucrafarma”, one of the founders of which was “Alcala Farma”, a leading pharmaceutical company in Spain (in the recent past – an affiliate of “GlaxoWellcome” company).

Such an experienced partner’s support was very important to JV “Sperco Ukraine” since the company had to start its activity in Ukraine from nothing. A new pharmaceutical enterprise consisted of only 5 employees and was disposed at a thousand of square meters of premises rented from Vinnytsia Optical Instruments Plant which had not been repaired since 1984.

From the very beginning the company has staked on the exclusive for the Ukrainian market products, the quality of which is not worse than that of products of European manufacturers. With due support from Spanish specialists, a quality control system complying with the requirements of good manufacturing practice (GMP) was implemented at the plant. This allowed the enterprise to control the whole production process: from raw material request to shipment of products.

The chosen strategy has proved to be correct. Starting from 1999, when products of JV “Sperco Ukraine” first entered the Ukrainian market, nearly every drug product of the company has become a brand.

The company used the earned income for production development. In 2006 it was able to purchase the whole industrial complex “Vinnytsia Optical Instruments Plant LLC”, on premises of which the company extended its production activities.

Nowadays the company manufactures 18 medicinal products. 12 new products are still being developed. They are planned to be released during the next two years.

JV “Sperco Ukraine” has successfully expanded into some foreign markets. Today company’s products are presented in Russia, Moldova, Belarus.
